Melissa Nelson
Melissa Nelson, M.A., NCC, will start at CTH in June 2026 as a Professional Counselor Associate and National Certified Counselor, working under the supervision of Dr. Deanna Linville. She has been a counselor for the last two years. Her own experiences of navigating her identity, family dynamics, spirituality, and inner emotional world have helped shape her approach as a therapist. Melissa strives to be relational, trauma-informed, and collaborative grounding her work in attachment theory, Internal Family Systems, and somatic approaches. Along with helping clients explore and understand their internal experiences, Melissa also considers the larger systems and environmental contexts of clients. Most of her experience has been with adults navigating trauma, anxiety, depression, relational and marital challenges, difficulties stemming from cultural differences, and life transitions. Melissa has a particular passion for working with those who have a history of spiritual trauma, are BIPOC, international students, and LGBTQIA+. Though English is her primary language, her background as a Latina woman raised in a Latinx community enables her to support individuals and families who speak both English and Spanish at varying levels of proficiency.
