Emily Johnson, LMFT

Emily Johnson is the co-founder and Executive Clinical Director of Center for Transformative Healing. She is a licensed marriage and family therapist in Oregon, in addition to being a certified Emotionally Focused Therapist. Emily is also a clinical member and approved supervisor with the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT) as well as with the state of Oregon. Emily has been practicing clinically for over 15 years, as well as engaging in supervision and teaching both within and outside of the university setting. Emily holds the core belief and value that inclusive, quality mental health services, supervision, and training should be readily accessible and is committed to supporting this within our community.

Emily has found within her own life that truly being met with compassion, empathy, and non-evaluative support can be a profoundly healing and transformative experience; and it is with this in mind that she decided to co-create a center that holds this as a primary importance. Emily’s education and experience to date has been multi-faceted and has included community-based mental health services, school-based mental health services, private clinical & supervision practice, and teaching/supervising within a university setting. Her approach is attachment-based and is motivated by acceptance, thoughtfulness, intentionality, and kindness. She strives to engage in therapy, supervision, and teaching in a collaborative way that fosters an atmosphere of trust, openness, inclusivity, and affirmation of multiple identities. Emily’s areas of interest include individual and family growth & well-being, intimate partner relationships, gender diversity, sexuality/sexual identity, life transitions, and trauma healing.
